On the sidelines of the 7th AfriGeo Symposium currently ongoing in Swakopmund, Namibia, the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) announced a bilateral introductory meeting with the Namibian Ministry of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation to explore areas of collaboration, including in Human Capacity Development and Capacity building.
The objective of the meeting was to have an introductory discussion between Namibia and SANSA, looking at historical space linkages between the two neighbouring countries. Some highlights included Namibia’s support and cooperation with SA in establishing multilateral institutions, such as the African Space Policy.
It was unanimously agreed that there is a need to reinvigorate the relationship and cooperation on science between the two countries and explore collaboration areas, including human capacity development and capacity building. The ambition is to commence and progress on identified projects before the next Bi-National Commission.
