The IAC is the one time of the year when all space actors come together. Global, multidisciplinary and covering all space sectors and topics, it offers everyone the latest space information and developments, but above all contacts and potential partnerships. Each year, the IAC changes host country, theme and local organiser, enabling all to learn more about, and be a part of, the world space scene. This year, the IAC will be held in Washington DC, the USA from 21-25 October 2019.

With a record-breaking number of 4,336 abstracts submitted for review, the 2019 IAC will feature 2,440 paper presentation in 5 categories. The 2019 Technical Programme will consist of more than 2,070 oral presentations in 181 diverse Technical Sessions (including 5 Global Technical Sessions) and 360 interactive presentations highlighting recent progress in all major areas of space.

The IAC 2019 has over 180 exhibitors, and you can find African institutions at Booth 6009 and Exhibit Hall 221. One of the booths is for “Bridging the Space Divide in Emerging Countries” while the other one is for the South African Space Industry.

The South African Space industry exhibition is led by the South African Department of Science and Innovation whose mandate is to implement and coordinate space activities in South Africa, alongside supporting the development of its local space industry players. The SA Pavilion partners exhibiting include the country’s space legislation body SACSA; its space agency, SANSA; its SKA host, SARAO; the SpaceOps 2020 host, and a number of its local industry players. The industry players offer a wide range of products and services to the local and international market, from component development and assimilation/ testing to applications from space data. They also provide support to academic programmes to ensure the skills development of future scientists and engineers for the space industry. The South African team will be on Exhibit Hall – 221.
