UNOOSA & JAXA Opens Application For 5th Round Of KiboCUBE
The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) are callinf for applications in respect of the KiboCUBE 5th round!
Application Instructions
Fully completed application documents, comprising of a CubeSat Mission Application as well as a letter of endorsement from the head of the applying entity, should be sent by email to un*****************@un.org no later than September 30, 2019 at 23:59 CET.
In the email, applying entities are requested to attach scanned copies of the letter of endorsement and the cover page of the CubeSat Mission Application as pdf files (.pdf), and the entire document containing the CubeSat Mission Application in both pdf and Ms-word formats. Please note that the UNOOSA email account only accepts emails with a size limit of less than 10 MB.

SANSA Is Recruiting For A Chair In Space Weather
SANSA has announced the availability of a Research Chair opportunity within the Space Science Programme situated in Hermanus, Western Cape, South Africa, to be filled by an individual with the relevant skills, drive, competencies, and qualifications.
Eligibility
The ideal candidate must have:
- Ph.D in Physics, Space Physics, or related fields (preferably with specialisation in Solar Physics)
- A minimum of 7 – 10 years post Ph.D experience in research.
- Equivalent credentials for the level of a University Professor.
- Demonstrated international leadership within the research field with an extensive recent (within the past 5 years) research track record.
- Demonstrated student mentorship and supervision (should have graduated students over the past 5 years),
- A passion for research, particularly in the field of Space Weather.
- Good communication skills.
- Willingness to travel both intra-nationally and internationally.
- An NRF rating is an added advantage (successful applicants who do not have an NRF rating will be required to apply for a rating after appointment)

Register To Attend The 31st Chris Engelbrecht Summer School
The Cosmology and Gravity Group at the University of Cape Town would be hosting the 31st Chris Engelbrecht Summer School. This Summer School is motivated by recent advances in the field of gravitational wave science. The lecture series will cover a broad range of topics related to gravitational wave science, such as: numerical simulation of gravitational wave sources, gravitational waves in modified gravity, cosmology, and the gravitational wave background.
The school will take place from January 20-29, 2020 at the
University of Cape Town, South Africa.
The school syllabus will cover the following topics:
- Numerical simulation of gravitational wave sources
- Gravitational waves in modified gravity
- Observational data
- LISA and the Gravitational wave background
- Gravitational wave Astrophysics and Cosmology
- Post-Newtonian Calculations

The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) has announced the opening of applications in respect of “United Nations /European Space Agency Fellowship Programme on the Large Diameter Centrifuge Hypergravity Experiment Series (HyperGES)”,as part of the UNOOSA’s “Access to Space for All” Initiative, in cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC).
