The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Earth Observation Cloud Credit Programme offers GEO Member agencies and research organizations from developing countries access to free cloud services to help with the hosting, processing and analysis of big data about the Earth to inform decisions for sustainable development.
The AWS – GEO Earth Observation Cloud Credits Programme Webinar will answer basic questions related to the initiative, including:
- What is the cloud?
- What services does AWS offer?
- How does the cloud help researchers and decision makers use Earth observations for sustainable development applications?
- What support will be provided to cloud credit recipients to help them get started?
During this entry-level webinar, participants will learn how the Cloud Credits Programme can help researchers and policymakers around the world make faster and better decisions, through a high-level overview of cloud concepts and core AWS services including Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3. The webinar will also demonstrate how AWS can be used to facilitate work with large-scale Earth observation data.
