In a news report released by All Africa, the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, during the graduation ceremony of 295 cadet officers from the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) Land and Air Forces at the Uganda Military Academy Kabamba in Mubende district, disclosed that UPDF will launch a satellite to aid military and security operations in the country.
According to President Museveni, “the Ugandan army is building its capacity to deal with all threats. The planned satellite launch, expected to act as eyes for the military, will reinforce our insights into security threats. In the early stages, we had only the infantry. However, we are now working towards launching a satellite.”
Furthermore, launching a satellite will enable the UPDF to gain improved surveillance capabilities over its territory. This will aid in monitoring border areas, tracking potential threats, and responding more effectively to security breaches.
