ISRO Hosts Delegates from Kenya on Advancing the Kenyan-Indian Space Cooperation

The Cabinet Secretary, Honourable Adan Bare Duale, accompanied by Brigadier Hillary Biwott Kipkosgey, the Acting Director-General of the Kenya Space Agency and  High Commissioner of Kenya to India, led a delegation team to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on the 30th of August, 2023. The delegation team met with Mr Sreedhara Somanath, the Chairman of ISRO and Secretary of the Department of Space (DOS), regarding potential opportunities for cooperative and commercial partnership between India and Kenya.

During the strategic visit, the discussed areas of prioritisation included establishing capacity-building programmes and infrastructures on space technological applications, sharing earth observation data, and exchanging expertise on constructing space infrastructures in Kenya.

Furthermore, Honorable Adan Bare Duale congratulated India and ISRO for landing the Chandrayaan 3 lander near the Lunar South Pole. In addition, both parties expressed their mutual commitment to advancing their respective space sectors. They affirmed their intention to collaborate on developing and implementing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for space cooperation, with specific activities and timelines.
