The Management Office of the National Space Program (GGPEN) is organising the first satellite communication course titled “Fundamentals of Radiofrequency, Installation and Maintenance of VSAT” at Higher Polytechnic Institute of Technologies and Sciences (ISPTEC). The training is within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the GGPEN and ISPTEC to expand space science and technology training and to disseminate space culture at local institutions in Angola.
The very small aperture terminal (VSAT) course is an opportunity for teachers and students at the higher institutes of learning, personnel working in the telecommunication sector, including VSAT field engineers, support engineers, antennas installers and VSAT network operational managers, to obtain first-hand theoretical & practical training experience on subjects related to satellite communications.
In Angola, several national companies and young engineers and technicians are willing to invest in satellite telecommunication technology and such training programmes will enable them to enhance their capacity in several thematic areas.
The training programme also enjoys the institutional support of the Angolan Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, as part of the Ministry’s commitment to the National Space Education Programme.
