Exploitation of Geospatial Data Conference

The first international conference on the exploitation of geospatial data represents a scientific event that will bring together the different actors in the fields of Earth Observation, Geomatics and Space Geodesy. Its main objective is to present the most recent work done and to promote exchanges within the framework of these themes.

    Ethiopia’s first-ever satellite, ET-RSS1, is going to space on 17th Dec 2019  at 6:21 AM Ethiopian Time, according to the Ethiopian Space Science Technology Institute (ESSTI).

    The news was disclosed during a joint press briefing by the Minister of innovation and Technology, Dr Getahun Mekuria, and the ESSTI General Director, Dr Solomon Belay.

    The first African Astronomical Society (AfAS) Conference which targets astronomy in Africa as well as co-regional and international collaborations in the area of science and astronomy, will hold from 16-19 March 2020.

    The meeting will invoke the objectives and the science strategy developed at the AfAS Science Business meeting, held in Addis Ababa Ethiopia from 10-11 October 2019, and also look at attracting and retaining youth in astronomy, and strengthening the teaching of astronomy and related sciences.


    Venue for the conference is the South African Astronomical Observatory in Cape Town, South Africa( venue for AfAS official relaunch in March 2019).

    The 16th International conference on Space Operations SpaceOps will be coming up on May 18-22, 2020 at Cape Town International Convention Center (CTICC) Cape Town, South Africa.

    This conference will be held for the first time on the African continent, in the multicultural melting pot with a rich history, South Africa. As it is known that South Africa is rapidly taking its place amongst the scientific destinations of choice with the science and technology innovations & research it undertakes on a global scale.

    The International Space Weather Camp (ISWC) consisting of series of lectures, hands-on projects, and other interesting activities is an opportunity for students from South Africa, USA, Italy, and Germany to learn about space weather, a relatively new and exciting field involving the study of the Sun and its influence on space and the Earth’s upper atmosphere, as well as the impacts of solar events on space and ground-based technological systems that modern society relies on daily.

    The African School of Fundamental Physics and Applications has announced the date and location for the 6th edition of the biennial African School of Fundamental Physics and Applications –  ASP2020 will take place at Université Cadi Ayyad in Marrakesh Morocco, on July 5-25, 2020 after Morocco’s proposal submitted in November 2018 was accepted.

    Members of the International Organizing Committee will make a site visit to Morocco on March 25-29 or April 1-5, 2019. The objective of the site visit is to meet with the Local Organizing Committee and to converge on a program of actions leading towards a successful ASP.
