On 2 March 2023, delegates from the Rwanda SPace Agency (RSA) were hosted by the European Space Agency (ESA) to discuss future sustainable efforts towards advancing the Earth Observation (EO) sector. Top officials from both parties and other strategic partners attended the event at the ESA’s Centre for Earth Observation (ESA ESRIN) in Italy.
The strategic visit solidifies the partnership between the two agencies to create an opportunity to share experiences and exchange ideas on the EO sector in Africa and Europe. In addition, the visit facilitated a productive discussion on future cooperation concerning fostering EO capabilities and data science to ensure the growth of space technologies for socioeconomic tools in Rwanda.
Over the years, the ESA has partnered with several African agencies and organisations to enhance digital and sustainable transitions through various space-based segments to ensure accelerated regional growth. Furthermore, the continuous corroborations between ESA and African countries are paramount for the continent to achieve its sustainability goals and improve its roadmap to prosperity.
