From 17 May to 14 June, the Management Office of the National Space Program (GGPEN) will run the second training on small satellites at the ITEL Technological Training Center (CFITEL). The course is a GGPEN educational program that aims to improve public knowledge about science and space technology.
The course includes the phases of design, integration, testing and launching of a Cansat (representation of an actual satellite in a 330 ml can of soda volume) and is intended to ensure that all participating teams have the necessary knowledge and equipment to fulfill Cansat’s primary and secondary missions. The course will challenge students to make a functional representation of a real satellite integrated in the 330 ml “soda can”, giving the trainees the first experience in projects related to aerospace science and technology. Students will gain a broad view of how satellites operate based on their mission parameters.
More than 30 institutions of higher education and technical-medium professionals have been registered at the national level, which will be attended by groups of professors-coordinators and students from various engineering areas.
The training will be conducted by Angolan specialists assigned to the internationally certified GGPEN (UNISEC). The last phase will be presented at ANGOTIC – 2019 with the presence of renowned foreign experts.
The course is a project of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology (MTTI), organized annually at ANGOTIC – Angola ICT Forum, by the Office of Management GGPEN in the Department of Space Sciences and Applied Research (DCEPA), in cooperation with the Angolan academic community.
