Analysis of the subsystems on board the Angosat-2

Angosat-1

At the Satellite Mission Control Center, located in the municipality of Funda, in Luanda, the analysis team of the subsystems on board the satellite is composed of eight technicians, among them a Director, responsible for managing and coordinating the work of experts in the field, five specialists in subsystem analysis, who permanently monitor the health status of the satellite through Telemetry Information (Telemetry Information), received in real time and that ensure operational shifts of 12 hours and two experts in deep analysis and processing of TMI files for the timely detection of possible deviations from normal operation in subsystems and support for the understanding and resolution of non-nominal situations (ONS).

Among others, the main functions carried out by the specialists of the analysis team are: monitoring and continuous evaluation of the state of operation of the subsystems; confirmation of the execution of the actions of the commands sent to the satellite; identification of irregularities or breakdowns and production of technical recommendations; calculation of the remaining time of operation of the equipment on board the satellite; analysis of equipment failures, via processing of TMI files; calculation of the use of resources, such as fuel (fuel) and preparation of the necessary documentation for reports.

In order for the satellite or spacecraft to operate within the normal parameters at its orbiting point of view, with Angosat-2 as a geostationary satellite, a set of control actions is required which can only be determined and executed on the basis of the reliable values or measurement data of the parameters, which reflect the state of operation of the on-board equipment belonging to the various subsystems of the satellite. These measurement data are transmitted from the satellite via radio frequency (RF) signal through the Service Channel in the C band, received by the respective antennas at the earth station and displayed on computer screens in the MCC for the purpose of continuous monitoring, ie 24 / 24h. The measurement data received on the ground represent what is called the Telemetry Information, or TMI,

In order for the tasks of the analysis specialists to be performed efficiently, they must have a thorough knowledge of the subsystems on board the satellite, namely, thermal control subsystem, power subsystem, guidance control subsystem and navigation, on-board equipment control subsystem, service channel control subsystem, propulsion subsystem and communication subsystem, as well as knowledge of structures and mechanisms. This in-depth knowledge is primarily used for the operationalization and resolution of eventual failures in the operation of the satellite equipment, called ONS.

In the background, the satellite subsystem analysis specialist has the important task of keeping the satellite in perfect health, preventing and diagnosing any failures that may occur in its normal operation and recommending the most appropriate technical solutions for the satellite. restoration of the ideal functioning of the satellite, so that it can carry out its space mission.
