Egypt has been endorsed as the host of the African Space Agency at the just concluded 32nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union which held at the African Union Headquarter in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The bid which comes with a financial donation of $USD 10million was keenly contested between Egypt, Ethiopia and Nigeria – other contestant were Ghana (whose bid was rejected because it came in late) and Namibia (bid was later withdrawn).

The African Space policy and Strategy was adopted by Heads of State and Government of the African Union to contribute to the realization of the African Union vision of an integrated, prosperous and peaceful continent, driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in the global arena. The policy and strategy is also in response to the aspirations stipulated under Agenda 2063.
Full implementation of the policy is expected to follow immediately. Congratulations to Egypt.
